It looks like Grand Theft Auto VI's in-store marketing has started. Official dummy cases and promotional posters for the game are turning up in UK retailers this week, with at least one Currys, a major British electrical retailer, already putting the display on its shelves. The sightings piled up on September 23, shared by multiple users across social media, particularly X. Aside from Currys, Smyths Toys have also started to put up official GTA 6 material.

The cases themselves are empty, which shouldn't feel too surprise. GTA 6 ships as a code in a box, not a disc, so the retail packaging is a display-only case, there to give the game shelf presence before launch.

What you would actually buy in November is a case with a download code inside, even if you end up paying for the more expensive edition. The good news? There's actually a physical version of GTA 6. It's just that instead of getting a Grand Theft Auto game to play, it contains the game's music and soundtrack, but hey, at least it's something, right?

The GTA 6 retail displays have spread from Asia to Europe to the UK.

None of this is a surprise. Dummy cases and posters are standard late-stage retail prep, with GTA 6 under two months out. However, it is another visible sign that the launch machine is fully spun up. The in-store push joins everything else Rockstar Games has going, from the Miami rooftop sign to billboards and a record-breaking pre-order run.

So the empty boxes are on the shelves now, months before there is anything to put in them. For a game that has taken over billboards in Japan, streaming charts and NBA locker-room jokes, a poster at your local Currys is a small thing. However, it is the part of the campaign you will walk past in person, right up until November 19.

All that's missing now is a complete marketing rollout, similar to what Rockstar did with Grand Theft Auto V way back then and it'll be officially GTA 6 season.
