Grand Theft Auto 6 stands as arguably the most anticipated video game release of the current console generation. Fans are counting down the days until May 26, 2026, when they'll finally get their hands on Rockstar's next masterpiece. However, fresh speculation about a potential delay is creating uncertainty about whether that target date will actually hold. Ironically, one of the reasons for the concern was also the first to clarify his position in the potentially complicated situation.

We can trace all this hullabaloo back to Reece Reilly, who operates under the handle Kiwi Talkz.  He posted on X that GTA 6 could still be delayed again, noting he's heard conflicting reports internally from different developers working at Rockstar India and Rockstar San Diego, among others.

When pressed to elaborate on what he'd heard, Reilly admitted the difficulty of providing more specific details precisely because the information remains so inconsistent. He guessed that there’s some internal debate going on about whether or not Rockstar could hit the promised date or not.

New rumors suggest GTA 6 might be delayed again, but the information is inconsistent at best.

According to Reilly's understanding, the game is pretty much complete at this point. All remaining work involves quality assurance, fixing bugs and glitches, and testing the enormous number of systems and interactions that make up a modern open-world game. He claims that there’s still plenty to test, which is in line with the earlier job listings made by Rockstar hiring for game testers.

It certainly doesn’t help that Rockstar recently made changes to their official website ahead of the next Take-Two Interactive earnings call on November 6. Reilly later clarified his position in a follow-up post. He grouped GTA 6 with Metroid Prime 4 as games that he can’t talk about without causing a fuss. He admits that while he’s sympathetic with outlets struggling financially and needing content, he described the coverage as “kind of a nothing burger.”

Adding another perspective to the conversation, reliable Rockstar insider Tez2 commented that people shouldn't worry about a delay. Instead, he advised fans to prepare for when previews start dropping in multiple languages with global marketing set to begin soon.
