Rockstar San Diego is a Rockstar Games development studio based in Carlsbad, California. It was previously known as Angel Studios before joining Rockstar.

Games and technology

Take-Two credited Rockstar San Diego, working with Rockstar North, with the development of Red Dead Redemption. The same announcement said the game was built on the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine, or RAGE.1

The studio's work is not limited to a single series. Rockstar's current recruitment material describes its San Diego engineering roles as building online services used across Rockstar's titles and franchises.2
