The Equipment category covers two prep missions and both are mandatory. There are no variants to choose from. They also share the same fixed structure each time, so there's no variance between runs besides the locations.
The two missions are:
- Access Code
- Hacking Device
You need both to actually start the heist. Here's how to complete each one.
Access Code
You'll be sent to a location where some Merryweather mercenaries are hanging around a container holding some drones. Head over, kill the enemies, then shoot the lock on the container to open it.
Interact with the container and head inside to steal the drone.
With the drone in hand, make your way to the vantage point, which is a high spot on top of one of the buildings. Once you're up there, you'll fly the drone across to the building opposite. You'll always know where to go, since the broken air conditioning unit on the building across from your vantage point is marked with a yellow mission marker.
Fly to it and interact with it to send the drone in and infiltrate the security firm through the air conditioning unit.
Once you're inside, wait for the office employee to walk through the door into another room. Move forward and shock the control panel to short-circuit it and open the door.
Next, you need to scan the terminals on the ground floor of the office area to your left. Head through the door on your left and get close to the terminals, making sure you stay out of the security guards' field of vision.
When you're close enough, scan a terminal. You'll get either a negative or a positive response. The correct one gives a positive result and hands you the access code for the vault, and which terminal is correct is randomized every time you run this prep.
When you hit the correct terminal, a green field appears around it, and your drone needs to stay inside it for a few seconds until the terminal is hacked and the access code is downloaded.
Once it's downloaded, head to the other side of the office area and destroy the backup server. Get close to it and hold the detonate button for a few seconds to take it out.
After that, just leave the area to complete the mission. It's perfectly fine if the guards get alerted, it doesn't matter much, and if anyone gets in your way you can shock them. And if your drone gets destroyed, you can simply spawn back in.
Hacking Device
First, head to the designated location, eliminate the corrupt agent, and search his body for an IAA key card.
With the key card acquired, make your way to the IAA facility. If you picked up any cops after killing the corrupt agent, lose them first. When you reach the facility, you'll find two or three guards. Take them out and use the key card to get in.
Once inside, you need to get through the blast door ahead of you. This facility has a very similar entrance structure to the Facility property you can own in GTA Online. Here you have two options: hack the terminal at the security desk by the blast door, or destroy the generator. The downside of destroying the generator is that it kills all the power, making it very hard to see inside the facility.
We recommend taking out the two guards at the entrance, then hacking the terminal to open the blast door.
Once it's open, clear the guards inside and look for the hacking device, which will be sitting on one of the tables. Be careful of the explosive equipment scattered around, like gas canisters, when shooting at the guards. You can use them to your advantage, but you can just as easily get caught in the blast and killed if you're too close.

After grabbing the hacking device, you can't leave the way you came in, since the exit will be blocked. Instead, you'll need to take one of the exits within this area. Once you have the device, one of the two exits will light up for you to take.
Which exit you get is random. If you get Exit A, you simply drive the construction van straight ahead to get out. If you get Exit B, as we did in this guide, you'll need to drive the construction van until you reach the platform area, get off, take the stairs up, and exit through the maintenance tunnels.
As soon as you're out, the IAA agents will attack. You need to escape by driving away from them, and it's even easier if you have a flying vehicle.
Once you've evaded the IAA agents, head back to your Mansion to complete the mission.
