GTA 6 Price: Every Edition and What You Get

Grand Theft Auto VI costs $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition in the United States. Both prices were confirmed by Rockstar Games ahead of pre-orders opening on June 25.

The Standard Edition is the complete game. It includes the full story, the entire map, and access to the online mode when that goes live. The Ultimate Edition adds a bundle of vehicles, cosmetics, customisation venues, and some exclusive side content. One thing worth knowing before you commit either way is you aren't locked into your choice. Standard Edition buyers have the option to purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately after redeeming their code. If you are undecided, buying Standard and upgrading later costs you nothing extra, so there is no penalty for waiting to see whether the bonus content appeals to you once the game is out.

As for the regional pricing, Rockstar doesn't simply convert the dollar price into your currency. It sets prices region by region, adjusting for local economies, currency strength, taxes, and what buyers in that market can realistically pay. The spread is wide, running more than $75 between the cheapest and most expensive markets.

The United States, despite the $79.99 headline everyone quotes, is not the expensive end of the scale. Buyers in the United Kingdom, the eurozone, and Australia are paying more in real terms, and Israel sits nearly $30 above the American price. Then again, cheapest in dollars is not the same as cheapest in life either. Around $63 in India represents a far larger share of a typical income than $79.99 does in the United States, so the markets that look like bargains on this table are often the ones where the game is hardest to afford.

As for the GTA 6 price, the standard for big-budget console games have stood at $69.99 since roughly 2020, when Take-Two Interactive became the first major publisher to move above the previous $59.99 standard. Before the pre-orders opened, some analysts predicted a $100 base price and others believe Rockstar went wrong by pricing GTA 6 too cheap, so $79.99 landed above the expected figure and below the worst-case one, making neither shareholders and Grand Theft Auto fans happy.

Finally, Rockstar threw the record early buyers a bone by adding two freebies. The free Vintage Vice City Pack applies to both editions and to both digital and physical purchases, so long as you buy before November 20. On the other hand, the free month of GTA+ is specifically tied to digital purchases.

Subscription trials generally roll into a paid subscription unless you cancel, so if you take the free month and do not want to keep paying for it, don't forget to cancel it before the said date.

Is there a cheaper way to buy GTA 6? Yes.

Retailer promotions can help you get GTA 6 cheap . Physical retailers and storefronts run discounts, loyalty points, gift card offers and student pricing, and stacking those has already let some buyers pay well under sticker price. The Target student discount alone has brought it close to $60, and we keep a running list of every legitimate way to pay less or get it free worth checking if you haven't placed your order just yet.

Buying from another region isn't something we recommend. Do it at your own risk. South Korea at roughly $58 against $92 in the United Kingdom is tempting and yes, you can technically use gift cards or a virtual private network to shop another region's store. However, doing so can violate platform terms of service, get your account flagged or banned, and cause compatibility and add-on headaches later. Saving thirty dollars is not worth risking an account with years of purchases attached to it.

Then there are the key resellers and the fake listings. Only buy from official storefronts and established retailers and no legitimate sleller needs PlayStation, Xbox, or Rockstar Games account password, nor will they ask for any payment, especially in cryptocurrency or in gift cards.

And just in case you didn't know, the boxed version of GTA 6 does not contain a disc. It contains a download code you redeem, which means buying physical does not get you an installable disc or a copy you can resell in the traditional sense. The Ultimate Edition is digital only regardless.
