No exact date yet for Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 3. Mid July, near the World Cup final, is the likeliest window, but Rockstar Games could drop it without warning any time before November 19.
On June 25, pre-orders opened, pricing was revealed, editions were announced, and Trailer 3 did not come, which we successfully predicted about Grand Theft Auto VI earlier.
With Trailer 1 and Trailer 2 mostly being the only sources of information we have about the next Grand Theft Auto, save for the website and other breadcrumbs Rockstar Games has dropped over the years, many are wondering if it didn't come then, when exactly will we get the third trailer?
The answer, to be honest, is we don't know. However, like before, it didn't stop us from making an educated guess.
You see, when it comes to GTA 6, breaking precedent is the norm. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has confirmed this before. It will not market GTA 6 the same way as it did its predecessors, particularly Grand Theft Auto V. This explains why we didn't get a June 25 trailer. Rockstar had no reason to keep pre-orders and the next trailer as the same marketing event. Numbers-wise, the pre-orders didn't need the boost.
We're bringing this up because it's the entire point. Rockstar proved it didn't need a trailer to sell GTA 6. All it needed was to confirm the Standard Edition and the Ultimate Edition to capture everyone's attention, controversies included. People are paying $100 and ignoring the unfortunate death of physical discs without seeing raw gameplay. This tells a lot about the kind of demand GTA 6 generates. It also means Rockstar can use Trailer 3 as its own separate event.
GTA 6 Trailer 3 Windows
| Window | Timing | Why It Fits |
|---|---|---|
Window 1 (likeliest) | Mid-July, around the World Cup final July 19 | Massive global audience matches Rockstar's social-first strategy |
Window 2 | Late July or early August | Sets up hands-on press ahead of Gamescom |
Window 3 | A standalone Rockstar event, any day | Rockstar's preferred no-warning social drop |
Mid-July, around the World Cup final on July 19, is the strongest candidate. It ties to something Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said about marketing being social-first.
With Zelnick confirming the approach Rockstar is taking with GTA 6, we can only assume that it wants to maximize organic reach every time they release new information about the game, and what better way to do it than landing in front of the largest possible audience at the moment social media is at its peak, with all eyes on the World Cup? It's the kind of amplification a GTA 6 trailer is tailor-made to exploit.
Still, while mid-July is the likeliest window, the honest caveat is that Rockstar could drop Trailer 3 on any random Tuesday with zero notice because Rockstar's whole style is built on defying expectations.

With that said, whenever Trailer 3 arrives, it has to show gameplay. People want to see actual mechanics, such as driving, shooting, UI, and world interaction. Rockstar is currently taking $80 to $100 from millions of people who have never seen a second of raw gameplay. The two trailers so far have showcased how gorgeous Vice City and Leonida look, even on a base PlayStation 5, but they don't represent actual gameplay.
As much as Rockstar doesn't answer to anyone, it kind of owes buyers proof of what they paid for, especially after experts have raised concerns about potential performance issues.
Trailer 3 can help Rockstar justify that trust, and, maybe, just maybe, generate positive PR now that it's facing serious allegations from former and current employees.

Of course, there is a real chance Trailer 3 does not come as soon as fans hope, and, again, we'll circle back to the argument we made about the pre-order success. Rockstar just demonstrated that it can sell records without showing gameplay, which, paradoxically, reduces the pressure to release a trailer quickly. Why rush the next reveal when the money is already flowing on trust alone? Besides, Sony is the one doing the bulk of the marketing for GTA 6 anyway, so why bother, right?
Rockstar can afford to wait, dropping Trailer 3 whenever it feels is best rather than whenever fans want it. Mid-July is the likeliest window, but it can just as easily slip later.
The only thing we're sure of (and even this isn't guaranteed) is that we'll see more of GTA 6 before it launches on November 19.
