The Grand Theft Auto VI community has lost one of its own. Jerry Fort, the 25-year-old content creator known online as Void Only, has died, weeks before the game he fought to live long enough to play.
Fort had lived with interstitial lung disease since he was 17. In August, he posted a video from his ICU bed with a simple wish. "I just want to play GTA VI," he said, adding a familiar joke about Rockstar Games and their delays. The clip spread fast and turned a private fight into a community cause.
The response was nothing short of overwhelming. His mother, Paris Fort, set up a GoFundMe for his lung transplant. The Grand Theft Auto community pushed it well past its goal, with reported totals climbing above $96,000 from thousands of donors. Fort said the support made him feel like his dreams were coming true. He hoped to stream the game with the community that had rallied around him.
He received a lung transplant in September. His recovery proved difficult, with serious complications in the weeks that followed. On October 28, by his family's account, he decided he was ready to stop fighting. He died the next day, October 29. His family confirmed his passing in a video posted to his TikTok account around November 2.
"He was peaceful. He was at peace," Fort's sister said. "He's no longer fighting. He's no longer hurting. He's no longer struggling." She thanked everyone in a video on his account, saying the community had made his final months beautiful and said their mother is planning a balloon release in his honor.

A wish that moved thousands of players, three weeks short of the game he waited for.
We first told Fort's story in August and it became one of the most-shared moments of the long wait for the game, a reminder of this community at its best. His TikTok is filling with tributes from players who never met him but felt like they knew him.
Fort never got to play the game he waited so long for, but he spent his last months knowing a whole community was in his corner. He got to feel that. He said it made his dreams of visiting Vice City and Leonida feel real.
Rest easy, Void Only.
