Take-Two Reaffirms GTA 6 Release Date on PlayStation and Xbox

The good news is that the Fall 2025 release date for GTA 6 should stick. Grand Theft Auto 5 was also released in Fall 2013 (September 2013, to be exact) for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It came to the PC in April 2015, a year after it came out on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2014.

Based on this potential timeline, GTA 6 might hit the physical and digital shelves at any time between September and December 2025 on current-gen consoles and the PlayStation 5 Pro. A PC release is likely in 2027, before or after which we'll likely hear chatter of its next-gen port.

Unfortunately, Take-Two remains their elusive selves. When questioned about how the development on GTA 6 is going, all Zelnick had to say is that GTA 6 is still in its "core development" stage, even though the September 2022 leaks and the recent mandate suggest that it's much further along than they're making it out to be.

If it's any consolation, we did get a rather pointed and sharp nugget of wisdom from the Take-Two CEO as he talked about the potential of launching its games on a subscription service like Xbox Game Pass and GTA+.

On a similar note, we learned in the same earnings call that GTA 6 will likely follow in GTA 5's footsteps as the company strategizes its "post-launch monetization plan" for the upcoming sequel, which lines up with recent reports. Those are probably the most hated words strung together that any gamer loathes to hear, but at this point GTA is too big to slow down.

The first GTA 6 trailer came out in December 2023 and attracted millions in its first 24 hours en route to setting a new viewership record for video game trailers.
