Rockstar swiftly removed the PlayStation 4 logo from their support page.

Rockstar Games appears to have accidentally revealed their plans for one of gaming's most requested remasters through a simple website error. It all started when when Reddit user u/deVonY7 stumbled upon something unusual on Rockstar's official support page for_Grand Theft Auto 4_.

Listed among the supported platforms was PlayStation 4, a console that has never officially supported the 2008 classic. What makes this discovery particularly intriguing is the timing and context surrounding it.

Earlier this year, a well-known Rockstar insider named Tez had claimed that sources within the company hinted at a_GTA IV_port being in active development. According to these rumors, the project isn't a complete overhaul and more of a simple port, similar to how_Red Dead Redemption_was brought to modern platforms and PCs in 2023 and 2024 respectively.

The insider speculation gained additional credibility when Rockstar and their parent company Take-Two Interactive made the decision to shut down mods related to_GTA 4_, including the Liberty City Preservation Project.

Unfortunately, this might also be a mere website error._Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars_was also listed as being available on PC, despite never receiving an official PC release.

On a similar note, Rockstar's_Red Dead Redemption 2_support page temporarily featured a section for online migration, possibly hinting at a next-generation version of the western epic. Like the_GTA IV_listing, this was also quickly removed after gaining attention online.

Many_Grand Theft Auto_fans have been requesting a way to play GTA IV on modern hardware for years, as the game remains trapped on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 unless you use backward compatibility features on newer Xbox consoles.

In a related development that adds humor to the situation, when one fan directly contacted Rockstar Support to inquire about the possibility of a_GTA 4_port for PlayStation 5, the support agent's response was refreshingly honest.

Rather than giving the standard corporate response about having no information to share, the agent simply expressed their own desire for such a release. With that said, the evidence suggests that while a_GTA 4_re-release is coming, it's going to be slated for the next fiscal year, possibly ahead of the release of_Grand Theft Auto 6_on May 26, 2026.

In the meantime, if you'd like to revisit Liberty City and play as Niko Bellic, a new update to a popular_GTA 4_ mod was just released after a decade of relative silence.
