Cfx.re joined Rockstar Games in August 2023, bringing the team behind FiveM and RedM into the company. Those platforms let communities build custom multiplayer servers for Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2.1
What Cfx.re makes
FiveM gives GTA V communities tools to build their own servers, from character-driven roleplay to racing and other custom modes. RedM serves the corresponding Red Dead Redemption 2 community. Cfx.re describes both as experience platforms built on its Citizen Framework; the official Cfx.re website links to each project and its community support channels.2
The distinction is useful for players: Cfx.re develops the platform, while each server community chooses its own rules, content and access arrangements. Joining Rockstar Games
Rockstar announced that Cfx.re had joined the company on August 11, 2023. It said the move would support the developers and players of community-created roleplay servers. GTA BOOM's report from that day covers the change in Rockstar's relationship with the roleplay scene.1
That announcement identified Cfx.re's work on GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. It did not announce a FiveM platform for Grand Theft Auto VI.1
