The Brute Shuttle Bus is a minibus manufactured by Brute set to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI. It was previously featured in both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, where it is primarily depicted as a utility transport vehicle, most commonly used for airport shuttles and rental car services.
Overview
The Brute Rental Shuttle Bus is a compact transit vehicle designed for short-distance group transport, most commonly seen in commercial environments such as airports and rental car facilities. It features a large passenger cabin mounted on a van chassis, prioritizing seating capacity over performance. In gameplay, it functions as a utility vehicle with limited speed and handling, but high passenger accommodation. Its overall design is nearly identical to the Tourbus, distinguished primarily by its liveries.
Design and Appearance
The Rental Shuttle Bus is derived from the first-generation Burrito, modified with an extended chassis to support a large rear passenger cabin similar in style to the Camper. This compartment contains eight passenger seats and two non-functional side doors, with occupants warping directly into their seats when entering. However, the primary inspiration for the vehicle is the real-life Chevrolet Express (cutaway chassis model)1.
The interior is decorated with details such as "Welcome to Los Santos" signage and FlyUS-branded seat covers, while the exterior is fitted with a default Light Smoke window tint.
The vehicle was released with two liveries: a white and yellow scheme for "Escalera Rent-A-Car" and a blue and white scheme for "Touchdown Car Rentals." The Touchdown variant was later removed in the Heists update on newer versions of Grand Theft Auto V, but it remains present in earlier builds of the game.
One notable design quirk is that the driver and passenger side windows fail to spawn. This is due to the roof being internally flagged as a "convertible" component, which prevents window models from rendering.
Performance
The Rental Shuttle Bus performs poorly in most areas, largely due to its size and weight. Acceleration and top speed are below average, while its handling is poor, with a wide turning radius, heavy understeer, and excessive body roll caused by its soft suspension.
Although clumsy to drive, the vehicle has average durability and can absorb a fair amount of damage before the engine fails. Its considerable mass also makes it effective for ramming lighter vehicles off the road.
The bus is powered by what appears to be a 4.5L Turbo Diesel Inline-4 engine, similar to that used in the Ambulance, producing a low-revving diesel sound.
The Brute Rental Shuttle Bus can only reach a max speed of 106.22 km/h (66.00 mph) in GTA Online when the vehicle is fully upgraded. Similar or around the same performance is expected in GTA VI.
Acquisition / Locations
- In Grand Theft Auto V, the Shuttle Bus is most often found parked in front of Los Santos International Airport, typically unlocked and without alarms, making it easy to steal without attracting police attention. It is rarely seen driving, though it can occasionally appear on the service roads near the runways.
- In Grand Theft Auto Online, the Rental Shuttle Bus is available for purchase from Warstock Cache & Carry for $30,000.
- In Grand Theft Auto VI, the bus was among the first vehicles shown in the opening shot of the Grand Theft Auto 6 First Trailer, seen traveling on a highway in Vice City alongside vehicles such as the Vapid Speedo, the Dashound, and the Jobuilt Phantom. Its method of acquisition in Grand Theft Auto VI has not yet been confirmed.
Usage
The Rental Shuttle Bus is unsuited for pursuits, getaways, or races due to its sluggish speed and heavy handling. Its main strength lies in passenger capacity, making it a serviceable, though slow, option for transporting large groups of players. In Grand Theft Auto V, its frequent availability and lack of security at Los Santos International Airport make it one of the easiest vehicles to obtain for simple transportation.
While its weight and durability allow it to push through traffic and absorb damage, the cumbersome handling and wide turning radius make it more of a liability during missions or other high-pressure situations.

Trivia
- The blue and purple "Touchdown Car Rentals" livery was removed from the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game with the release of the Heists update. It remains present in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, and its texture files still exist unused in the base game's data2.
- As noted in the GTA V Themed Bus Spotted in Sydney article, a real-world shuttle bus in Sydney, Australia was decorated with Grand Theft Auto V promotional artwork featuring the "red bikini girl."
- The After Hours update for Grand Theft Auto Online added the Festival Bus, another notable Brute vehicle that functions as a mobile party platform.
