A massive archive of Grand Theft Auto V source code and development files is reportedly making its rounds on the internet and It is said to include early Grand Theft Auto VI assets. A modder posted the roughly 200 GB dump this week, claiming it holds GTA V's full source, debug builds from every platform, cut Grand Theft Auto Online content and early GTA 6 development material.

For what it's worth, this isn't new information.. The files are from the September 2022 Rockstar Games breach, the one that leaked the infamous GTA 6 pre-alpha footage, so as far as the next Grand Theft Auto goes, there's nothing new here. A smaller slice of that haul, mostly GTA V source code, had already went public around Christmas 2023. So this is basically the long-rumored fuller version, the complete package that someone had sat on for years, now in public. It's different from the recent CyberLeek gameplay leaks.

The full ~200 GB archive is reportedly hitting torrents

The claimed archive traces back to the 2022 Rockstar breach.

We recommend that you approach all of this with heavy scepticism. Nothing in the archive is independently verified at scale. The modder who posted it said their team still needs time to dig through it and the recent-looking file timestamps could just mean these are repacked files. These "leaked GTA" torrents are also a notorious malware trap, with fake versions routinely hiding stealers and worse. This is not something to go find and download.

Besides, Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive have a long, aggressive history with leaks like this. Expect the same strategy they run against other leakers to come for the torrents and the channels hosting them. Links tied to stolen source code tend not to stay up for long. The more interesting question is what any of this means down the line.

Old source code and debug tools are like catnip for the reverse-engineering community, the same one behind a huge chunk of GTA V ports and mods. The cut content raises a fun what-if too. Unfinished ideas from GTA V's development, including a rumored Liberty City DLC and scrapped GTA Online features, could in theory resurface in fan projects.

Whether any of it ever finds its way to GTA 6 or its eventual online mode is pure speculation, though. Rockstar revives and reuses ideas across its games, but nothing here points to a plan.

For now, what's confirmed that this is a torrent you should stay away from.
