Ashton Hall's latest video suggests throwing your controller at the TV for success.

In 2018, Ashton Hall wasn't a name most people would know off-hand - fast forward to today, and he's the latest person to go viral on TikTok, which counts as real fame these days, believe it or not. Based on his newest motivational video, he's implying that this is all because he gave up playing video games, specifically Grand Theft Auto 5.

Weeks after becoming world famous seemingly overnight for dipping his face in a bowl full of iced Saratoga Water and flexing his perceived wealth and physique en route to a seven-digit follower count on multiple social media platforms that continue to grow, Hall is no longer just content with making millions of his followers feel guilty about not doing enough.

He's now saying that to make money and get in shape, you need to throw your controller at your TV because apparently watching a cutscene featuring Franklin Clinton, one of the protagonists of GTA 5, is so rage enducing. There's a great many things wrong with this mentality, and some might argue invoking the name of the second best selling game of all time is a marketing tactic.

In the video, Hall shows his 2018 self playing video games in a relatively modest apartment, snacking on food that he just picked up from his window (because, why not), and drinking a can of carbonated drinks. He then finds himself doom-scrolling on social media for hours, swiping at women left and right, before he eventually decides to pick up his DualShock 4 and play GTA 5 of all games.

A recurring theme of Hall's videos is watching it with a certain level of suspension of disbelief. After all, while he could very well afford the lifestyle that he's trying to portray on social media, there's really no way someone's morning routine takes them from 3 AM to 9 AM to get ready for the day and still have enough time to squeeze in some deep work. Even Mark Wahlberg, whose morning routine went viral years ago, doesn't get up that early.

With that said, there's a difference between watching a semi-believable morning routine featuring a 6-foot muscular former NFL aspirant and the same guy taking 12 minutes to power on the controller only to throw it at a television he never turned on in the first place. Then again, maybe this is what the internet gets for making a guy who spent four minutes mid-air over a swimming pool blow up seemingly overnight.

Speaking of frustrations, the entire internet is waiting on Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games to finally talk more about the next Grand Theft Auto. Unfortunately, as per Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, the silence is by design and they'll talk when we're much closer to the release window of Grand Theft Auto 6, which isn't until much later this year if predicitions are to be believed.

The good news is that Take-Two is expected to talk about GTA 6 in May at its next earnings call, so maybe we'll hear more about the game by then.
