Rockstar Under Pressure as Turkish Gamers Push for Localization

Turkish gamers are rallying for GTA 6 to include their language, using #WeWantGTA6inTurkish to catch Rockstar's attention.

Grand Theft Auto fans in Turkey are pleading for Rockstar Games to include Turkish language support in Grand Theft Auto 6. The movement has adopted the hashtag #WeWantGTA6inTurkish, hoping that a unified voice will catch the attention of Rockstar and make a compelling enough case for the inclusion of Turkish localization in GTA 6.

To further promote the movement, Turkish gamers are flooding timelines with posts, memes, and pleas, all united under the #WeWantGTA6inTurkish hashtag. The goal is clear: to trend in Turkey and beyond, making their voices and request impossible to ignore.

By targeting Rockstar Games' official accounts and consistently using the designated hashtag, these fans are making themselves near-impossible to ignore. The organizers believe that sustained effort and widespread participation are key to catching Rockstar's eye and achieving their goal.

As explained by Rockstar Türkiye on X, this campaign is about representation and accessibility. For many, playing GTA 6 in their native language would significantly enhance their gaming experience, allowing for deeper immersion and a stronger connection to the game's narrative and characters, which so far includes two main protagonists in Lucia and her unnamed male accomplice.

The timing of this campaign is strategic. As Rockstar puts the final touches on GTA 6, adding subtitle support for a language spoken by roughly around 90 million people around the world at the last minute doesn't seem like too much of an ask. If it gains enough traction, Take-Two Interactive might even address it in its upcoming earnings call.

The success of this campaign could also potentially influence how major game developers approach localization in the future. It could set a precedent for other developers to play closer attention to the linguistic needs of their global player base, not just those from Turkey.

Whether Rockstar will heed this call remains to be seen, but their message is clear: they want to experience the next chapter of Grand Theft Auto in their own language, and they're not backing down until Rockstar acknowledges their request. For comparison, Grand Theft Auto 5 supports a number of languages1, but not Turkish.

Speaking of requests and petitions, this call for localization support is just one of the many in recent memory. Back in August, there's movement dedicated to asking Rockstar to create a fictionalized version of Jeremy Fragrance in GTA 6. Finally, just last week, fans on the r/GTA6 subreddit began suggesting that it would be best to shut the subreddit down for the meantime as Rockstar continues to keep quiet.
