Strauss Zelnick says putting ads in a $70 game would be "unfair", but he also said in-game advertising is fine when it "fits with the vernacular," and pointed to NBA 2K's stadium ads as proof. GTA is literally built on fake billboards, radio commercials, and brand parodies. If any game world could absorb real advertising without it feeling out of place, it's Vice City. The question is whether Rockstar's commitment to satire holds, or whether the money gets too good to ignore.
