The Vice City Sign is a landmark structure set to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI. It is located at the Vice City International Airport within Vice City, Vice-Dale County, in the State of Leonida. The sign is a new addition to the HD Universe depiction of the city, as it was not present in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
Description
The Vice City Sign consists of large, white, block letters spelling out the word "VICE" mounted on a building-sized metal structure. It is situated at one end of the runways at the Vice City International Airport. In its debut appearance in the Grand Theft Auto 6 First Trailer, it is shown in a sun-soaked, time-lapse sequence with an airport radar tower visible in the background. Conceptually, it serves a similar purpose to the Vinewood Sign in Los Santos as an iconic city identifier.
Development and Influence
The design of the Vice City Sign is directly inspired by a recurring, real-world movie prop. This prop, which spelled out "MIAMI" in a similar style, was frequently placed at the Miami International Airport for filming. It gained mainstream recognition through its use in movies from the 1990s and 2000s, most notably Bad Boys, Bad Boys 2, and Transporter 2 1. The prop, which measured 50 feet wide and 15 feet high, was rebuilt for multiple films and made a reappearance in Bad Boys Ride or Die 2.
Geography and Environment
The Vice City Sign is located within the grounds of the Vice City International Airport, at the end of a runway. It is part of the urban landscape of Vice City, set against what appears to be a typically sunny and humid Leonidan climate, as seen in the game's first trailer.
Districts
The Vice City Sign is itself a major landmark. Its primary location and point of interest is the Vice City International Airport.
