Development and Influence

The design of the Vice City Sign is directly inspired by a recurring, real-world movie prop. This prop, which spelled out "MIAMI" in a similar style, was frequently placed at the Miami International Airport for filming. It gained mainstream recognition through its use in movies from the 1990s and 2000s, most notably Bad Boys, Bad Boys 2, and Transporter 2 ¹. The prop, which measured 50 feet wide and 15 feet high, was rebuilt for multiple films and made a reappearance in Bad Boys Ride or Die ².

The Vice City Sign is located within the grounds of the Vice City International Airport, at the end of a runway. It is part of the urban landscape of Vice City, set against what appears to be a typically sunny and humid Leonidan climate, as seen in the game's first trailer.
