GTA Online is still making $1.3 million a day. It has 8.5 million weekly active players. Nearly 3 million of those are on last gen consoles that cannot run GTA 6. Zelnick says he sees no reason to shut it down. But running two live service games at once while keeping both fed with content and moderation is expensive, even for Rockstar. The leaked revenue data makes this the most expensive handover in gaming history, and nobody has ever had to manage one quite like it.
