John Cena's cryptic Instagram post featuring GTA 6 artwork may or may not be a confirmation about his potential involvement in the game.

Many long-time Grand Theft Auto fans, who now are primarily adults who grew up in the 90s, have similar interests. For example, GTA and wrestling. These two things seldom overlap, which is probably part of the reason why what John Cena did out of nowhere on Saturday went so viral so fast.

The WWE superstar and Hollywood actor shared a cryptic post on his Instagram account on the 2nd of march featuring the first and only official artwork for Grand Theft Auto 6. What's even more interesting is that it came just hours after his shocking heel turn at WWE's Elimination Chamber event (yes, we know, we got a John Cena heel turn before GTA 6 ).

The successive and surprising turn of events has led to millions of fans around the globe to speculate about a potential connection between his new villainous persona and the upcoming Rockstar Games title. Cena's Instagram post comes with no caption or explanation, further fueling the speculation about his possible involvement in the next GTA title.

While this doesn't confirm anything, including Cena's involvement as a character in GTA 6, the timing does suggest that something is going on. It's worth noting that 2K Sports holds the exclusive rights to the video game license of WWE. It wouldn't be surprising if Take-Two Interactive, the owners of 2K and Rockstar, have brokered a partnership with TKO, the owners of WWE, to advertise GTA 6.

Don't forget that Wrestlemania 41 is set for April 19-20, coinciding with the start of the next fiscal year where Take-Two is expected to spend a huge chunk of their marketing budget to advertise GTA 6 to as many platforms as possible.

Given that WrestleMania is dubbed the "Greatest Spectacle in Sports Entertainment" and, under Triple H's management, has set new viewership records every year, it wouldn't be the worst idea to use the upcoming event to kickstart GTA 6's marketing cycle. It might even be where Rockstar drops the second official trailer for GTA 6. This has never happened before in WWE's history, but with Triple H at the helm, anything is possible.

Of course, the 16-time world champion does have a reputation for having an enigmatic social media presence. His Instagram bio explicitly states that he posts images without explanations, leaving interpretation up to his followers. His GTA 6 post could be just another cryptic post style example, unrelated to any actual involvement with the game. We might be making much ado about nothing, similar to what happened with 50 Cent and his upcoming show a while back.

For now, GTA fans are on high alert, waiting for the first bit official news regarding GTA 6 to drop since the release of the first trailer. With Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced Edition now available for pre-load on the Rockstar Games Launcher and Steam ahead of the March 4 update, it won't be long before Rockstar has nothing else left on the plate to advertise aside from GTA 6.

Fingers crossed, we'll see (get it?) John Cena involved with GTA 6 in some shape or form. Speaking of wrestling superstars who want to collaborate with GTA 6, TNA World Champion Joe Hendry recently called out Rockstar to feature his theme song in the upcoming title.
