NVIDIA just announced DLSS 4.5 at CES 2026, and two of Rockstar Games’ biggest titles are getting that serious visual upgrade right now. If you own Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced or Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, you can enable the new second-generation Transformer model today through the NVIDIA app. Talk about a quick release!

The update brings improved image quality with better lighting accuracy, sharper edges, and cleaner motion handling. NVIDIA trained the new model with five times the computational power of the baseline DLSS 4, using a significantly larger dataset. The result is visibly better temporal stability and reduced ghosting, which is especially noticeable when you're racing through Los Santos at night or riding through the detailed landscapes of Red Dead Redemption 2.

The technical improvement comes down to how the new model handles lighting. Previous versions processed data in logarithmic space, which crushed shadows and muted highlights. DLSS 4.5 operates directly in linear space, allowing lighting to accumulate naturally. This means neon signs, reflections, and bright light sources maintain detail without flickering or becoming unstable.

The gains are most apparent in Performance and Ultra Performance settings. In some cases, DLSS 4.5 Performance Mode rivals or exceeds native image quality, while Ultra Performance has become a practical option for 4K gaming. This matters for games like GTA V Enhanced, which already supported DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation on RTX 50 Series cards, delivering frame rates that could jump nearly four times higher at 4K with maxed settings and ray tracing enabled.

How to Enable It

Getting DLSS 4.5 up and running is pretty simple. Open the NVIDIA app, go to Settings, and opt-in for access Beta or Experimental features. Then head to the Graphics tab, find your game, scroll down to "DLSS Override - Model Presets" under driver settings, and select "Latest" or choose specific models like "K" for stability or "J" for the newer Temporal model.

Players with RTX 50 Series cards running GTA V Enhanced can combine DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution with Multi Frame Generation for extreme frame rates. At 4K with everything maxed and ray tracing enabled, you need decent base performance to start with. Aim for at least 40 fps, though 60 fps works better to avoid input lag.

With GTA 6 expected to launch on May 26 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, PC players face a longer wait. The DLSS 4.5 update gives them a reason to return to Los Santos with better performance and image quality - and who knows, maybe DLSS 5 will be around the corner by the time the sequel releases?
