Never to be one caught not doing their due diligence, Rockstar Games has finally gotten approval to use the Grand Theft Auto 6 name from the Brazilian government. This means that Rockstar can now use the official name of the next Grand Theft Auto game to release licensed products and other related digital content in Brazil. It only took the country two years to approve the filling.

Portal Viciados was the first to spot the approval, and while it's much ado about nothing at the end of the day, it's still positive news for a game that's faced multiple delays already. At the very least, Rockstar can't use government regulations and red tape as an excuse to push back the release date for GTA 6 after fans have waited for it for over a decade.

While Rockstar never really used authorities as an excuse before, approvals taking this long certainly doesn't help. For example, in this scenario registration for trademark fillings only ended on January 27 in Brazil, and as per the image from Portal Viciados Rockstar filed the trademark two years ago, shortly after releasing the first GTA 6 trailer.

Interestingly, Rockstar didn't file it when it first announced that GTA 6 is in development. It would've made for quite the predicament (albeit a funny one) if someone had moved to register the trademark for GTA 6 before Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive. Had that happened, the company's coffers would've suffered a bit of a hit, just like what happened when they purchased this website from a random individual.

We should see more of these trademark filling approvals as we inch closer to GTA 6's release date.

In terms of GTA 6 news, this is actually quite tame - but at least it is something! Over the past few weeks, we've learned the lengths that some fans will go to just to find out more about the upcoming sequel, and this is after Rockstar North suffered a boiler room incident that, according to Rockstar, resulted in no casualties. We also shouldn't forget that Rockstar is in a bit of a bind with the UK government, as officials have promised to look into the "unjust" firings.

At the moment, the legal proceedings favor Rockstar, with a UK employment tribunal rejecting the motion to provide interim relief for the 34 developers the studio terminated for allegedly leaking information about upcoming and unannounced content.

As for Rockstar, they remain silent on all matters related to GTA outside of providing Grand Theft Auto Online updates. But Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two's CEO, will have to take the proverbial center stage next week at the company's next earnings call. Only time will tell if we'll find out more about GTA 6 by then.
