Twitch, the Amazon-owned streaming platform, is actively working with Rockstar Games right now to make sure the GTA 6 launch is unforgettable.

The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 is far from over, but the biggest streaming platform in the world is already preparing for what many anticipate to be the biggest gaming event in history - at least, that's what analysts, fans and executives are saying.

In a Machine Learning-translated interview with German gaming site Mein-MMO, Twitch's Chief Monetization Officer Mike Minton shared some fascinating details about what's happening behind the scenes.

Twitch, the platform that helped turn games like Among Us and Fall Guys into cultural phenomena, is now setting its sights on what they believe will be an unprecedented gaming moment. According to Minton, teams from Rockstar Games and Twitch are meeting regularly, sharing data, and planning features that will be ready the moment GTA 6 launches.

This level of coordination between a streaming platform and a game developer is rare, but it adds to a growing list of reasons that show just how massive everyone expects this release to be. More and more companies playing key roles in gaming culture are betting on massive inertia.

Twitch isn't just thinking about launch day. They're taking what Minton calls a "long-term view" of the game. They're sharing all the information they have about Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online with Rockstar.

Twitch is going as far as to develop GTA 6 -specific content drops. This means players will have incentives to watch their favorite streamers play the game, creating a connection between playing and watching that benefits everyone involved.

Of course, there's one major challenge that Twitch and streamers will face initially: GTA 6 is launching only on consoles at first and no PC version has been announced, but it is coming, as per Take-Two Interactive CEO, Strauss Zelnick.

However, the delay means the modding community that created the roleplay phenomenon won't have immediate access to the game. Even so, Twitch sees this as an opportunity. When the PC version eventually arrives, it will create another massive wave of interest and viewership.

The collaboration between Twitch and Rockstar shows how streaming has become an integral part of modern gaming. This has, of course, been the case for arguably a solid decade now at least - but companies are working together to take things to the next level even now.

When the game finally arrives on May 26, 2026, millions will be playing it, watching others play it, sharing clips, and participating in what's been described as either a "meteor", "iceberg", and a game that will set a new creative benchmark in the entertainment industry.

Considering that the second GTA 6 trailer already set a new viewership record, you'd be hard-pressed to find any reason to doubt that Rockstar will deliver.

Aside from Twitch, Rockstar is also reportedly working with Sony to optimize GTA 6 for the PlayStation 5 Pro. The first and second GTA 6 trailer were both shot using a base PS5.
