Players are logging in to find key social features have been quietly removed from Rockstar's online hub.
Just like that, Rockstar Games has quietly removed several core features from their Social Club platform without any announcement or warning. With the axing of in-game chat in Grand Theft Auto Online earlier this year, more and more social features are being disabled.
As reported by several users on social media platforms like X, the Rockstar Social Club has suddenly lost key functionality. Players logging in are discovering that they can no longer view profiles, check wall feeds, or search for other players' photos and videos.
The main Social Club URL now simply redirects to Rockstar's homepage. The Rockstar Social Club was the central hub where Grand Theft Auto Online's massive community of players connected, shared content, formed crews, and built friendships.
Think of it as Facebook meets Steam, but exclusively for Rockstar Games' fans. The platform allowed players to track their in-game statistics, share their best gaming moments, and coordinate with friends across different games.
With Grand Theft Auto 6 coming out next year, this sudden removal of features has left many wondering. Is a replacement coming, or has Rockstar abandoned the concept completely? What's even more concerning is the lack of communication from Rockstar. The company hasn't released any statement explaining whether this is a permanent change or if the features are coming back.
Perhaps we should've expected this. The removal of the video upload function a few months ago seemed like a warning sign. At the time, it seemed like a minor change, but combined with the latest developments, it appears to be part of a larger dismantling of the platform's social features.
With that said, the previous rumors did claim that Rockstar wants to turn GTA 6 into the next content creator platform, so maybe something better is coming. Of course, this could all be much ado about nothing. The platform has faced security concerns in recent years, with accounts being targeted by hackers and crews being hijacked.
It's possible Rockstar took it down with the intention of replacing it with a more secure system, especially with GTA 6 expected to bring in millions of new players.
Speaking of GTA 6, analysts recently revealed how much they expect the upcoming sequel to make in two months and the figure will astound you.
