The Bravado Rumpo is a van featured in both the 3D and HD Universes of the Grand Theft Auto series. Manufactured by Bravado in the HD Universe, it serves as a common workhorse vehicle. The Rumpo is one of the vehicles confirmed to return in Grand Theft Auto 6.
Overview / Description
The Bravado Rumpo has maintained a consistent design philosophy throughout the series as an average-sized van capable of carrying four occupants. It is a common sight in the various cities featured in the franchise, from Liberty City to Los Santos. The manufacturer, Bravado, is presented as a copy of the real-world American car maker Dodge1, though the Rumpo itself takes inspiration from other brands. Its role in the game world is primarily that of a utility or commercial vehicle, often seen with company liveries.
Design and Appearance
Known for its consistent boxy design, the Rumpo has seen a few iterations. In the HD Universe, its design is an inverse of the Speedo, primarily resembling the Ford E-Series2 with design cues from the Chevrolet Express LS3. The front end is characterized by a large chrome grille with dual rectangular headlights. The sides are denoted by smooth body lines, rectangular mirror wings, and impressed paneling on the rear compartment. The rear features two large doors with square windows. Its interior is shared with other vans and various trucks in the game.
In the 3D Universe, its appearance varied. In Grand Theft Auto III, it resembled a first-generation Dodge Ram Van4. In later 3D Universe games like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, it inherited the high-roof design of the Pony from GTA III, resembling a first-generation Fiat Ducato5.
A notable variant is the Weazel News Rumpo, which spawns with a specific media livery but no specialized equipment.
Performance
In Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, the Rumpo has average acceleration compared to other vans, though this can be improved with a turbocharger. In GTA Online, it has a top speed of 160.13 km/h (99.500 mph), making 5th fastest in the vans category6. It is somewhat agile and corners easily at low speeds, and its high ground clearance allows it to cover rough ground with ease. It features a rear-wheel-drive layout powered by what appears to be a single-cam engine mated to a five-speed gearbox.
In the 3D Universe, its performance characteristics varied. The GTA III version was fairly fast but had a tendency to tip over during hard cornering. The redesigned version in Vice City and San Andreas handled much like the smaller Pony but was prone to jolting and tipping on bumpy roads due to its height and stiff suspension.
Modifications / Customization
In Grand Theft Auto Online, the Rumpo can be customized at Los Santos Customs. Players can apply performance upgrades, including a turbocharger. As of the Heists update, the Weazel News livery can be added or removed at a mod shop, though the base color of the liveried van cannot be changed.
