The mod lets you explore Vice City before the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6.

A new mod is allowing players to explore a fan-made recreation of the Grand Theft Auto 6 map in Grand Theft Auto V. Dubbed as "Project Vice" by Dark Space, the modder spent months meticulously crafting a playable version of Vice City based on glimpses from the first and only official GTA 6 trailer.

This new GTA 5 mod transforms portions of the game's map into a sprawling representation of Leonida. While it's important to note that this fan-made creation is not an official product and contains a significant amount of speculation, it's better than what we're getting so far from Rockstar Games, which is nothing.

Project Vice features many of the iconic elements that players expect from Vice City, including pristine sandy beaches, luxurious beachfront properties, and urban areas inspired by the vibrant city of Miami. The mod even incorporates custom details such as Miami-inspired art installations and unique signage to enhance the authenticity of the experience.

One of the most impressive aspects of the mod is its scale. Dark Space has gone to great lengths to give the recreated map a sense of the potential size and scope of GTA 6's open world. However, it's important to understand that it's still a fan-made project. The mod utilizes repurposed assets from GTA 5, meaning that many buildings and objects will look familiar.

Additionally, due to technical constraints, the mod lacks AI-controlled traffic and pedestrians, resulting in a somewhat empty and static environment. It's also worth noting that the current version of the GTA 6 Map Mod is not the final iteration. Dark Space has expressed plans to continue expanding and improving the recreation, including the addition of new areas such as the docks seen briefly in the official trailer.

With the release of Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced and better modding support, it wouldn't come as a surprise if Dark Space can create a close approximation of GTA 6 in GTA 5 within the next few months. Unfortunately, we can't say for sure if the project will last until then. Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar have taken action against some fan projects in the past, particularly Grand Theft Auto Vice City Nextgen Edition and the Liberty City Preservation Project .

For now, it's worth going back to Grand Theft Auto V to play through Project Vice alone. As an added bonus, if you haven't played Grand Theft Auto Online in a while, Rockstar is giving away as much as GTA$3,000,000 as an incentive to return.
