Rockstar Games has begun teasing the previously announced, massive end-of-year DLC that will bring new Heists to Grand Theft Auto Online.
Now, with the newest brief teaser video, it has also been revealed that for the first time ever that the map of GTA Online will be expanded.
A video showing what is called the El Rubio Dossier gives us our first glimpse at the landscape of the new map area, which seems like a tropical or equatorial island environment with plantations, making us think there is a drug trafficking angle here. It isn't clear if El Rubio is the name of the location or a person. The teaser indicates that the new Heists coming in the DLC will take place on the new island.

The teaser also shows a corpse washed up on the coastline of Los Santos. Incidentally, GTA Online players have reported discovering corpses being washed up starting today, with their location changing every real-world hour. It seems that the corpses originate from the new location with waves and currents taking them to the Los Santos shoreline.
Rockstar teased that this December will bring with it the biggest GTA Online DLC to date, but previous press releases only hinted at new Heists, not at a map expansion. We sincerely hope that the new area will be freely explorable, and not only accessible during the Heist itself.
The recently announced and successfully completed Heist Challenge community event indicated that the prize - a free vehicle - will be released alongside major DLC in December, so we know which month the huge update is dropping, but nothing more. Rockstar is well known for keeping details close to their chests leading up to launch, so we can only expect some minor hints and teases until the time comes.
Keep an eye out for more news about the upcoming GTA Online map expansion and Heist DLC!
