Rockstar Games rarely misses, so it's a big deal when it happens. Case in point, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. Now that some time has passed since it came out and Rockstar has put a different developer in charge of the fixes, the remastered bundle is finally getting praised. So much so that one of the people who was behind the original release of all three titles now believes it's worth trying.
Obbe Vermeij, the technical director at Rockstar North from 1995 to 2009, recently replied to a tweet on X asking his opinion about the improvements done to the remastered trilogy. While he clarified that he hasn't played the re-release yet, he did praise the changes, saying that they help in "capturing the atmosphere of the originals" and that he's happy Rockstar is finally the "the love it deserves now", adding that he's "tempted to give it a shot."
This is high praise from the technical director of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which should be all the reason you need to change your mind and give it a try now.
Rockstar hasn't officially announced anything but the drip feed of updates for the remastered trilogy implies that more are coming. Unfortunately, it comes just in time for the trio of games to leave Netflix next month.
