Many years of development and two trailers later, Rockstar Games might finally be ready to go all-in on GTA 6.
In late June, Rockstar Games posted open positions for its marketing team. Now, it appears they've found the right people for the job. If you head on over to the company's careers page, you'll find that the previous listings are no longer there - the team has been assembled.
Marketing teams aren't assigned to projects on a whim. They're carefully constructed groups of professionals brought together for one purpose: to orchestrate massive promotional campaigns that reach as many people as possible. The fact that Rockstar has now presumably completed this crucial step suggests they're ready to pull back the curtain even more on Grand Theft Auto 6.
Grand Theft Auto is infamous for extensive marketing campaigns and Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick previously implied that GTA 6 will not be an exception. The company is famous for its calculated, strategic reveals that generate massive media coverage and fan excitement. Previous campaigns were masterclasses, featuring billboards, cryptic social media posts, and perfectly timed reveals.
With a massive amount budgeted for marketing GTA 6, it's safe to say Rockstar will spare no expense even though everyone, from Ford to the Florida Highway Patrol and even Travis Scott have jumped on the bandwagon. The timing is perfect - Take-Two is set to host its earnings call soon. Perhaps Take-Two and Rockstar are planning something huge to help bolster interest and get investors excited ahead of the important financial meeting.
Despite the release of the second GTA 6 trailer, fans remain hungry for more news, and who can blame them? Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online might have consistently received support, including an upcoming zombie-themed update for Cayo Perico, nothing beats a new entry. With that said, the pressure is on Rockstar to deliver something spectacular (and financially rewarding).
Judging from the characters and locations we've seen so far, including the fact that GTA 6 looks as awesome as it does on the PlayStation 5, Rockstar is on track to meet if not exceed expectations.
