In the massive world of Grand Theft Auto, it's often the little things that make the biggest impact. For years, players have found a peculiar joy in one of the GTA 5's smallest features: the yellow highway paddles. These unassuming road markers, designed to separate lanes and guide traffic, have become a staple presence for millions of players cruising through Los Santos. But something's changed now.
Since GTA V was released, the yellow highway paddles reacted to the player's presence with surprising realism. Walking over them would cause them to bend and sway, while driving at high speeds could send them flying off their hinges. It was a small detail, but one that added an extra layer of immersion and interactivity to the game world.
However, as discovered by X user @Lucas7yoshi_RS, a recent update to GTA Online has somehow altered the behavior of these roadside markers. The change, introduced in the Bottom Dollar Bounties update released in June, has stripped the paddles of their former physics.
Now, instead of tilting and hinging as they once did, the paddles remain stubbornly static when a player attempts to interact with them on foot. Even more jarring is their reaction to vehicles. Where once they required a good bit of speed to dislodge, now they break off instantly at the slightest touch of a bumper.
This seemingly minor alteration has ignited discussions online from long-time fans of the game. The yellow paddles, while not crucial to gameplay, have been a constant presence in GTA 5 since its release nearly a decade ago. Their sudden change in behavior feels like a small but important piece of the game's DNA has been altered.
