Grand Theft Auto Online is Rockstar Games' happy accident. After a botched launch, GTA Online rebounded and has become one of the most profitable ventures in gaming today. But, it appears that GTA Online might also be where Rockstar is dropping hints about the next Grand Theft Auto game.

According to eagle-eyed observers, Rockstar might have been uploading photos of GTA 6 in GTA Online this entire time.

Players have pointed out that a handful of new shirts added to GTA Online feature black and white photographs. The said photos appear random at first glance but a closer look suggests they might be repurposed screenshots from older GTA games. However, some have taken this theory a step further by saying that they don't look like they were taken in Los Santos. Some suggest that this is Rockstar's cheeky way of sneaking GTA 6 assets into GTA Online without us knowing.
At the end of the day, this is all just speculation. But, we shouldn't discount the possibility that Rockstar's been teasing GTA 6 in front of us this entire time.
Given that GTA 6 has reportedly been in development for almost a decade, Rockstar is sitting in a treasure trove of assets that it could "preview" in GTA Online whenever it wants. If GTA 6 is still years away from launching, Rockstar could be looking to generate some free marketing by getting people to talk about its "only" in-development project by pulling off stunts like this one.
If that's true, then it's certainly working. But, we're still hoping that Rockstar will grace us with at least a short teaser for GTA 6 before the year ends.
