GTA 5 Retro Overhaul Mod Project In Progress

We've always praised the skills and abilities of the individuals making up the massive modding community that has accumulated around GTA V.

However, what could possibly be better than a massive collaborative project between some of the biggest names in the modding sphere? This isn't the kind of this LSPDFR is gunning for - the massive AAA quality police simulator mod has a dedicated and skilled dev team backing it full time, treating it as a full-fledged game project.

The mod we're bringing to you today is a project brought together by some of the best independent just-for-fun modders in the biz.

While GTA V may enjoy massive popularity and San Andreas is often considered to be the best of the series by virtue of nostalgia, everyone agrees that Vice City had the most style.

The 80's Miami setting, overloaded with neon, bourgeois luxury and TV style violence, it is one of the most memorable games in the franchise. Many long time fans have voiced their hopes about the next installment return to Vice City.

However, they may not need to wait until then. Retro City Overhaul is an 80's themed conversion mod currently being worked on by the likes of SLY95ZER, TheRealFookin, Zievs, H2awesome, Generalkilla, CarFace and adi_armstrong.

Currently the mod is just new loading screens, intro videos, in-game music and vehicles. Some neat Vice City easter eggs have also been added as well as some stylish decorations.

However, the dream, the vision, the end goal of this mod is to rework all of Los Santos (maybe all of GTA V) to fit the stylized 80's aesthetic of Vice City. With such a modding dream team backing it, that dream is well on its way to realization.

Would you want to see the GTA franchise return to the 80's style of Vice City?
