GTA V Nears 30 Million Sales

It comes as no surprise to anyone that Grand Theft Auto V is a high-selling game. The GTA series is very popular, with the previous game in the series, GTA IV, setting a new record for day-one sales by selling 3.6 million copies on the day it launched. It went on to sell 22 million copies over the next three years.

GTA V has smashed through those sales figures. When it released on September 17, 2013, it sold 11.2 million copies that day. After only a few months, sales reports in January 2014 show that well over 29 million copies of GTA V have been sold.

If it hasn’t already hit the incredible mark of 30 million sales, it is well on its way there. There is no doubt that the game is a success. With DLC content planned and a PC version of the game rumored, there is no telling how well GTA V might do.

  1. “Gaming is no longer a niche hobby, as GTA V has proved, and how exciting that it’s taken on the might of Hollywood and won” -can’t remember who said that, but it’s a fact. Totally love this game. Can’t beat SA though IMO.
