Get Free GTA$ With Red Dead Redemption 2 Pre-Orders

Rockstar Games has announced the three special editions of their upcoming game, Red Dead Redemption 2.

Alongside the new editions, a set of pre-order bonuses have also been unveiled which include granting players various amounts of in-game currency for Grand Theft Auto Online, depending on what edition you pre-order.

Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 cross-promotions aren't an entirely new concept. Not too long ago, Rockstar introduced a side-activity to GTA Online which consisted of a scavenger hunt and headshot challenge. Following a number of clues, players would eventually find a golden revolver, with which they had to score a number of headshots.

While the revolver itself is unremarkable in GTA Online stat-wise, completing the headshot challenge would unlock the ivory-grip gold-plated revolver weapon skin in Red Dead Online once it is launched.

Before the scavenger hunt, Rockstar also used loading screen and start-screen popups to advertise Red Dead Redemption 2 to GTA Online players.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will have three special editions alongside the base game. Two of these editions, called the Special Edition and the Ultimate Edition have digital bonuses only, save for the steelbook in the latter, and are thus available for digital pre-order.

The final and biggest edition, the Collector's Box which comes in a large metal crate, is only available in retail.

If, and only if, players pre-order Red Dead Redemption 2 digitally, they will receive a bonus helping of GTA$ on the same account. If you pre-order the standard edition, which is just the base game, you get GTA$ 500,000, the Special Edition's pre-order nets you GTA$ 1,000,000 and the Ultimate Edition grants GTA$ 2,000,000.

Going by recent DLCs, GTA$ 500,000 doesn't amount to much when most race-worthy cars these days are near or above one million, but then every drop in the bucket counts and half a million isn't that small a drop.

You can do plenty just with the other two rewards however, making this a great deal for GTA Online players who want in on Red Dead Redemption 2 anyway.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on the 26th of October, 2018.
