All GTA, all day, since 2012

Do not expect to see a GTA IV remaster come out anytime soon

It's a shame that we won't be seeing a proper remaster of Red Dead Redemption anytime soon.

Apparently, no one told Rockstar Games never to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Before Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition came out, you could play GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas, all without problems on all modern platforms save for the Nintendo Switch. Plus, if you game on the PC, you could mod the aforementioned games all you want and make them look just as good as GTA V if not better. For some reason, Rockstar Games had to mess this up with the GTA Remastered Trilogy. It's safe to say that the results have been disastrous.

GTA IV is easily the most underrated mainline GTA installment.

Apparently, things got so bad that it scared Rockstar enough to cancel its plans to remaster GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption.

Tez2 shared this info about the canceled remasters of GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption on Twitter.

It's not the first time that we've heard about Rockstar coming out with remasters of GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption. However, this is the first time we have heard about Rockstar abandoning its plans.

Take-Two Interactive recently revealed it had a massive slate of games planned to launch between now and 2025.  At the time, many assumed that the lineup would include the now-canceled pair of remasters. But, if we believe recent information, this isn't the case. At the same time, the cancelation isn't bad news either. This just means that Rockstar Games is all in on GTA VI.

Rockstar could always circle back and remaster GTA IV as well as Red Dead Redemption once it feels confident enough to divert its resources from GTA VI.

The best-case scenario here is that Rockstar will postpone its plans to remaster GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption until GTA VI is much further along in development. This way, it can delegate the responsibility to a more trusted subsidiary that will not botch the opportunity. Otherwise, Rockstar will just repeat what happened with the GTA Remastered Trilogy, and we all know how that turned out.

Hopefully, this is the case because we sure would love to see cousin Niko and Roman go bowling on the PS5 and the Xbox Series S/X.
